Week of April 12, 2020
Good Morning Rehoboth,
I have tried to be as honest with you all as possible and in light of that, I don't feel as though it makes the most sense to ramble this morning on the Easter scriptures. I say this because we have some pretty major events before we get to the celebration of Easter. The tendency is for us to want to jump straight to Easter from Palm Sunday. I call this a jump from parade to parade. A parade into Jerusalem and a parade out of the tomb. So my simple request for you all this week is to act like Easter isn't coming. What would maundy Thursday feel like if you didn't know Jesus was going to die? What would Good Friday feel like if you didn't know Jesus was going to rise on Sunday? What would Saturday feel like sitting alone on the Sabbath, a day of rest and silence?
That's my challenge to you this week. Don't rush to Easter in fact maybe act like Easter may not come. I have a feeling this week will be more powerful and in turn, the joy on Easter morning will be so incredible. Almost unbelievable. We know Easter is coming but let us not rush there. So read worship with me and read the stories. Sit with the stories and be in the stories and on Easter morning what a day that will be.
